Modernizing Your Data Capture – How to start improving your data capture

We’ve explored why organizations should modernize their forms, how to overcome common roadblocks along with what an ideal interface can be but you may be asking yourself how do I get started? This is a fair question and everyone’s path will be different but here are some tips to help guide you through the process.

Firstly, you need to understand the magnitude of work involved. What state are your forms in currently?  Is this an organizational change or departmental? Often these types of changes start with one department as a pilot before management would move forward with an overhaul for the entire company. Further to this, how much of the possible modernizations makes sense for your organization? How quickly do you want or need to get there?

Something to consider when moving from a standard 8 by 11 format for your forms to a dynamic layout is the navigation and general look and feel for the form. Form creation becomes more of a creative process rather than a technical one which can be difficult for legacy form teams to wrap their head around.
